Planning Your Wedding In Lockdown
Updated: Jun 1
With all this extra time some of us are finding on our hands this may be the perfect time to get ahead with your wedding planning. Is there anything more satisfying then ticking off things on your to-do list?! The run up to your wedding should be a fun and exciting time and there is still plenty that can be done whilst we are still in lockdown.
These tasks can be done from home, to help keep your wedding momentum going and to be sure that your all set when your day finally arrives.
Book virtual tours with venues
A lot of venues are turning to virtual tours with prospective couples. This can help give you a feel of the venue and see the layout, whilst being able to ask any questions to your wedding coordinator.
Choose your wedding suppliers
Research suppliers, take a look at their website, their social media and their past work. At lot of, if not all, suppliers will be able to chat with you over the phone to talk through what you are after. With a lot of 2020 weddings having to be postponed you may find that dates for 2021 are booking up faster than normal so be sure to confirm if your preferred suppliers are free before going any further. Having your budget ready for each aspect of your day will also help going into conversations.
Create a wedding website
A wedding website is the best way of keeping your guests informed. You can add the details of your day such as menus, hotel suggestions and travel directions. You can set up free websites so you can save your pennies for other things for your day. Why not add in fun facts about your wedding party or a story of you both as a couple.
Pick your first dance song and practice
Why not spend a weekend picking your first dance song which means a lot to you both. Take the time to practice your first dance, You don't need to have a choreographed dance if you don't want too, just practice moving with your partner to the song so you have a good feel for it. Then when the time comes there will be no standing on each others toes! YouTube has lots of videos on basic steps plus it's a great way of exercising.
Write your vows and speeches
If you are writing your vows and having speeches now is a good time to get that ticked off your list. If you find it difficult then look online for some inspiration and take your time to make sure it's how you want it.
Have a virtual planning session
If you have a wedding planner then keep in contact as things progress. Why not get together your wedding party to keep them up to date and ask them to help out with tasks that they can do at home.
Perfect your Pinterest Boards
Pinterest is a great way to explore ideas for different aspects of your day. While meeting suppliers isn't an option right now, style boards are a great way of showing your ideas and overall feel for your day. You can then chat through them over the phone to your suppliers.
Write a list of thing that can be done
Create a list of 'to do' jobs such as, writing place-cards, picking your first dance, planning and writing your vows and creating your table plans. Even if you're doing one job per week, ticking them off will feel so satisfying and create that feeling of getting things done, which is a great way of keeping your wedding mojo in these hard times!
